Pizza - it's sooo bad for us but soooo satisfying if made the right way. Before last night, I thought no one could do it better in Hawaii than Round Table Pizza. But, after trying JJ Dolan's last night, it is now my favorite pizza joint.
I learned about a website called Play @ Savvy Circle. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how it works, but I had heard that I could purchase a $30 voucher for JJ Dolans for $15, so I went to the website and bought one, not knowing whether this website was even legit!
J and I met my brother R and his girlfriend N for dinner last night at around 6:30 p.m. We were lucky enough to score a table for 4 without having to wait. The restaurant had a younger crowd, but I did see at least one family with a couple of kids.
Since we were saving our appetites for this occasion, we were all starving upon arrival. Pizza normally takes at least 20 minutes to cook, so we ordered a couple of appetizers to keep us occupied while we anxiously awaited our pizza. The appetizers arrived very quickly and were hot and fresh.
Fried calamari: it was a little oily, and I expected more for $8, but I liked the taste.
Wing Zings: these had a little kick to them
JJ Dolans allows you to split your pizza in half so that you can try two different pizzas. We tried the "Giacomo" and "Spinach and Garlic". Both were superb! The pizza crust was thin and crispy, topped with just the right amount of toppings.
One pizza (two pieces per person) and two appetizers was just the right amount of food for the 4 of us. The bill came out to just over $30.
Parking is hard to find, but it's definitely worth it. It's a great place to go for dinner after a long day of work or if you're trying to catch a performance at Hawaii Theatre.
