Earlier this year I wrote about one of my favorite ramen places - Ramen Nakamura.
I was alarmed when I drove past Ramen Nakamura one day and saw that it was closed. The first thought that came to mind was "don't tell me another one of my favorite restaurant has closed!". It turns out that they merely undergoing renovations. Phew!
When the folks on Twitter started tweeting that Ramen Nakamura had re-opened, @WeHeartHawaii and I just had to go to check it out.
It's like a whole new restaurant inside. Before they renovated, the interior was mostly white, and there were autographs on pieces of paper and several pieces of paper with menu items taped on the walls. But now, all of that has been removed, new lighting and fixtures have been put in, and it looks very modern and classy.
I was able to dig up a picture of what it looked like before....
Here's what it looks like now!
Fortunately, what hasn't changed is the ramen - it's still the best on the island.
Most of the customers you see will be Japanese tourists, which must be a sign that it's just as good as the ramen back home. For the locals, you will more than likely end up paying for parking somehow (whether it be metered parking, parking at the Hale Koa, etc.), but it's definitely worth it.Ramen Nakamura
