Back by popular demand, Honk! Returns to the Manoa Valley Theatre June 28 – July 15, 2012. Honk!, by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, is a charming musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen story "The Ugly Duckling." It tunefully and colorfully incorporates a message of tolerance appropriate for all ages. A delightful evening’s entertainment for children and their parents, the musical is set in the farmyard countryside and features Ugly, a duckling who is rejected by everyone but his mother, Ida; a sly tomcat who wants to eat Ugly; and a multitude of other enchanting barnyard creatures. A world-wide stage sensation that has been seen by over 5 million people, Honk! has won multiple awards including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical.
“...Imagine the colour and wit of Disney’s Jungle Book, mixed with the vivacity of ‘40s Hollywood musicals, exuberantly stage, and you still only have some idea of how stonkingly brilliant this treat is...” (Time Out on the 2000 National Theatre production)
