One of my all-time favorite Japanese restaurants is tucked away in a small strip mall in Kalihi, a neighborhood that is more known for bars (both sports bars and K-bars) and plate lunches than traditional Japanese restaurants.
It's a small restaurant and they maximize the floor space by squeezing in the tables tightly so that you are almost rubbing shoulders with the people sitting on the table next to you. They bring a whole new meaning to term"intimate dining".
The quality of the sushi is excellent. The sashimi melts in your mouth and the unagi is broiled to perfection and brushed with a generous amount of unagi sauce. If you are a fan of butterfish, you'll love their version of it - it's very moist and flaky.
For dessert they offer a coffee jello or green tea jello (whipped cream is optional at no extra charge). The green tea jello is a winner and they often run out of it, so I usually reserve a piece a head of time when I place my order.
